When Benross introduced its Ripple series of putters last year they extended the boundaries of what was perceived to be a classic tool for getting the ball in the hole on a variety of greens. Some eyebrows were certainly raised.

The step-effect behind the face looked more cosmetic than practical, even though the positioning of weight far back in the head matched the likes of Titleist's Futura, TaylorMade's Monza and Odyssey's Two-ball models.

Now Benross has introduced the Ripple SR and with its cream and silver head and scarlet alignment stripe encouraging  nickname  'The Raspberry Ripple'!

But when it holes putts of 15 to 20 feet - as it has done in recent weeks - you don't so much want to kiss it with affection, as lick it!

In its design Benross has put more weight above the equator of the ball, while still allowing it to sit squarely behind the ball at address.

It achieves the former with a combination of top weight and milled face but it needs a helping hand to hold the grip slightly away from you to keep the head square at address, otherwise the face will tend to fall open.

But it's a small price to pay for a club that gets the ball rolling towards its target without the hop, skip and jump that can be hallmarks of some more expensive putters.

The distinctive 'New Decade' red paddle grip from Golf Pride had a comfortable velvety feel to it and completes the Raspberry Ripple effect. It comes with left and right-hand and heel and centre-shafted options. You can have either a 34 or 35-inch shaft.

The Ripple SR putter challenges all preconceptions of what a putter should look like. Benross has put as much of the weight as possible above the equator of the ball to promote roll, whilst still allowing the putter to sit beautifully. The Ripple SR is designed with built in putting assistance. The Ripple sections have been enlarged, and an additional score line has been added to act as a secondary alignment aid. Benross is delighted to exclusively offer the outstanding NEW DECADE RED PADDLE grip from Golf Pride; this is Golf Pride’s latest grip and will not be available to other manufacturers until later in the year. The SR comes with either a polymer or steel insert face, and is available in both heel and centre shafted options. inc Magnetic H/C.
